The Ikosi-Isheri Ketu Magodo Annual Cultural Carnival 2024 wrapped up its two-day festivities with a grand finale celebration of culture and unity on Sunday, 27th of October.
Renowned musicians Alao Sule Malaika and Ayo Maff took to the stage, delivering captivating sets that got the crowd singing along and dancing. Nollywood actors also made appearances, adding to the excitement.
Cultural troops mesmerized the audience with traditional dances, while DJs kept the energy high with pulsating beats.
The audience’s faces lit up with smiles as they enjoyed the entertainment, with many unable to resist joining in the dancing.
Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA in her address at the CMD Event Centre in Magodo, acknowledging the community’s rich heritage and emphasizing the importance of unity.
She expressed her gratitude to the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, for her invaluable presence as the Face of this year’s carnival. She also thanked Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to the community’s growth and development.
She also extended her heartfelt gratitude to Senator Adetokunbo Mukhail Abiru, traditional rulers, and the distinguished APC Lagos State party chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi.
The Mayoress encouraged attendees to support local entrepreneurs, highlighting their role as the backbone of the community, creating jobs, and driving growth.
Princess Bada emphasized the importance of embracing the carnival’s spirit, forging stronger collaborations, and connections. “Each dance step, each melody sung, is a testament to what we can achieve together. Our culture is the foundation, our determination is the spark that ignites progress”.
In conclusion, she appreciated the attendees and encourage continued unity. “Let’s carry the spirit of unity and pride as we move forward together.
Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, Lagos APC Women Leader, presented the esteemed “Amazon Peer” award to Mayoress Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, recognizing her exceptional leadership and contributions to the community.
The Women Leader stated “Mayoress has been a shining example of leadership, driving infrastructural growth and empowering women. Her dedication to our party, APC, and her unwavering commitment to boosting our image through ‘women supporting women’ initiatives have not gone unnoticed.”
Residents applauded the initiative and are excited about the community bonding and social connections.
“I brought my family, and we had a wonderful time,” said civil servant, Mr. Adekunle. “The carnival catered to all ages.”
“I was impressed by the organization and coordination of the event,” said Mrs. Adeyemi, a community leader. “It was seamless and enjoyable.”
“The carnival showcased our community’s rich cultural diversity,” said student, Emmanuel Okoro. “I loved learning about our heritage.”
